Bradley graduated from the FdA Early Years (0-8 years) Professional Practice. Here he shares his thoughts…
- What did you do before embarking on your FDEY studies? I worked in hospitality for over five years, but when lockdown hit, it got me to reconsider what I wanted to do with my career. I had previous experience working with children and managed to find this course that would allow me to work around my work schedule.
- What do you intend on doing after your FDEY studies? I hope to become a primary school teacher as I am hoping to complete my top-up course to give me an undergraduate degree which will get me one step closer to achieving my goals.
- What did you enjoy most about the course/ what did you learn/ find most valuable? I found the psychology behind working with children very interesting. I am often very anxious of how people perceive me so having the knowledge has helped me to develop my morale compass when it comes to being a practitioner. I started this course having very little knowledge or experience of working with children but having the knowledge from university and experiences in placement have really helped me to get closer to achieving my goals.
- Any advice for new students? PLAN YOUR TIME. It’s very easy to put things off as it is a home-study course, but it is vital to ensure that you have a plan of when you will be doing reading, working as well as having a social life, but you have to stick to it. Referencing is easy once you get the hang of it, but the hard part is getting the hang of it… practice makes perfect.
