UNDERGRADUATE COURSES

FdA Early Years (0-8 years)

We offer two pathways:

FdA Early Years (0-8 years) for experienced practitioners and people who already hold a ‘competency to practice’ to be counted in ratios when working in early years settings. This is ideal for people who want to develop their professional attributes, knowledge and understanding required for the care and education of children and leadership skills for the sector.

FdA Early Years (0-8 years) Professional Practice is for people who want to gain an Ofsted recognised full and relevant qualification and develop a leadership role within early years.

This course is delivered on our Flexible and Distributed Learning pathway and at our Partner Colleges: Halesowen College, Heart of Worcester (HOW) Redditch and Worcester and Herefordshire and Ludlow College.

BA (hons) Early Childhood in Society

This course is ideal for people who want to work with children aged 0-8 and their families, either Ofsted registered settings, such as schools or nurseries, or in the wider early childhood workforce.  There is a choice of two pathways.

One is for those who want to work with children aged 0-8 years in educational establishments; the Graduate Practitioner pathway. On this pathway you will undertake placements in schools and early years settings and if you pass all the requirements, you will be able to be counted in staff ratios. This pathway is ideal for those who are considering completing a postgraduate teacher training qualification or leadership in early years.

The other pathway (called the ECIS pathway) is for people who want to work with children in foster care, hospitals or hospices, supporting children’s mental health and well-being, or with children with special educational needs or disabilities, or perhaps children who are not able to attend main-stream school, for example. You may also be interested in family support work or play therapy facilitation.

BA (hons) Integrated Working with Children and Families (Top up Degree)

This course provides an opportunity for practitioners who already have Foundation Degree/ HND or similar in a related subject (Early Years, Learning Support, Health & Social Care, CAMHS, etc.) to ‘top up’ to a BA (Hons) degree. The course offers development for practitioners working with children, young people and families across a range of education, health and social care environments, with children from birth to 19 years and their families. The programme recognises that working with children and their families is a privileged, challenging and rewarding experience. Students will be supported in developing their role as reflective practitioners and graduate leaders with a responsibility for implementing change and quality improvement practice within the context of integrated working with children, young people and families.

The course offers flexible learning opportunities, with standard taught classes at two local college or the FDL (Flexible and Distributed Learning) route, which comprises online study combined with monthly Saturday classes.
