Natalie Timms had very low confidence in herself and her ability when she started the FdA Early Years in 2019. She managed a hectic family life with a demanding job and her studies as a flexible and distributed learning student. Natalie progressed to the BA (Hons) Integrated Working with Children and Families, and graduated with a 1st class honours degree.
Natalie found the academic librarians and writers in residence to be a great help with her studies. She offered to attend summer school in 2021 to share her story and offer advice and support to new students starting the course. She even shared her contact details so they could contact her directly.
Since studying at the University of Worcester, Natalie’s confidence grew so much that she decided to talk to the Head Teacher at the school she worked in as a teaching assistant and asked if he would support her in her training to become a teacher. The head teacher agreed straight away and so Natalie is now working towards her teaching qualification. Natalie’s love of learning and her ambition even led to her asking if she could study a PGCE and MA at the same time!
