{"id":275,"date":"2023-03-08T12:54:56","date_gmt":"2023-03-08T12:54:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/childrenandfamilies.on.worc.ac.uk\/?p=275"},"modified":"2023-03-08T12:54:56","modified_gmt":"2023-03-08T12:54:56","slug":"graduate-stories-dea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/childrenandfamilies.on.worc.ac.uk\/index.php\/2023\/03\/08\/graduate-stories-dea\/","title":{"rendered":"Graduate Stories &#8211; Dea"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Dea McEwan-Hancock shares her reflections from studying the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worcester.ac.uk\/courses\/integrated-working-with-children-families-ba-hons-top-up-degree\">BA(Hons) Integrated Working with Children and Families <\/a>Top up degree at the University of Worcester.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-style-twentytwentyone-border\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"347\" height=\"398\" src=\"https:\/\/childrenandfamilies.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Picture8-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-277\" srcset=\"https:\/\/childrenandfamilies.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Picture8-1.jpg 347w, https:\/\/childrenandfamilies.on.worc.ac.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Picture8-1-262x300.jpg 262w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 347px) 100vw, 347px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I completed the BA (Hons) in Integrated Working with Children and Families in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I found the course gave me the confidence to actively engage in multi-disciplinary meetings with professional partners and other agencies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I learnt the skills needed to lead these meetings in a person centred manner, advocating for those unable to do so, or support them to represent themselves.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tutors were incredibly supportive, even though this was not a full time course and 2 years later they are at the other end of an email to lend an ear or help with an application.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am now working as a deputy manager of a residential home for children, earning more than I thought possible and just about to start a MSc in Children&#8217;s Mental health. I was told at school that I wouldn&#8217;t even pass an &#8216;O&#8217; level, well&#8230;I am proof that with hard work and support achieving is possible.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I would highly recommend undertaking the Integrated Working with Children and Families degree, it and the tutors have helped to change my life!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Go for it&#8230;shine!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dea McEwan-Hancock shares her reflections from studying the BA(Hons) Integrated Working with Children and Families Top up degree at the University of Worcester.
